This kitchen renovation in Sotogrande transformed an outdated and worn out space into a room completely aligned with its surroundings. Located in a traditional Andalusian villa, the premise was not simply to modernize the kitchen, but to create a space that would truly integrate with the rest of the home.
From the outset, the goal was to preserve the character of the villa while elevating the aesthetics, feel and functionality of the space. The result is a bespoke kitchen that balances craftsmanship, warmth and day-to-day practicality, with carefully considered details to bring elegance and coherence to the heart of the home.
The design concept started from a very specific architectural feature already present in the house: the light blue painted wooden window frames. That detail became the starting point for the entire proposal, inspiring a woodwork finished in a shade equivalent to Farrow & Ball Olivato 402 satin. The result is a subtle visual dialogue between the kitchen and the rest of the house, helping the new space feel integrated and authentic, rather than imposed.
All doors and drawer fronts were manufactured in solid natural oak, with a frame-on-frame construction and a 70 mm profile. Painted in the blue protagonist of the project, they reinforce the traditional details of the villa while introducing a refined, tailored feel. Glazed-front display cabinets were incorporated to lighten the composition and bring greater elegance and visual openness.
A custom kitchen island and a specific cooking area were designed to improve both the functionality and the fluidity of the space, creating a layout designed for daily use and to favor shared moments around the kitchen. The interior casings were finished in varnished natural oak veneer, with a matching plinth in the same material as the doors to ensure continuity throughout.
Lighting also played a key role in the final atmosphere. LED lighting under furniture and interior lighting in the showcases bring warmth, highlight the materials and provide practical work light where it is needed.
Large format tiles from APE Group were selected for the flooring, in a choice that matches the palette of the furnishings and connects the kitchen with the traditional aesthetics of the villa, albeit with a more contemporary finish.
For the countertops, the choice was Porcelanosa’s X-Tone Liem Dark, polished and finished with a 50 mm mitred edge and coping. This darker surface introduces contrast and visual weight, bringing solidity to the ensemble and balancing the lightness of the light-toned woodwork.
The choice of hardware reinforces the handcrafted character of the kitchen. Armac Martin brass handles, flown in from the UK, bring warmth and sophistication to every door and drawer, while Blum’s soft-close drawers and hinges ensure a smooth day-to-day user experience.
Functionality was resolved through a series of integrated and discreet elements, including pull-out storage, cutlery organizers and integrated matte black sockets, which maintain a clean and tidy image without sacrificing practicality.

As with every Kubic project, this kitchen was approached as a completely bespoke transformation, where design, materials and execution were conceived as a whole. Each element was chosen not only for its appearance, but for the way it contributes to the experience of inhabiting the space every day.
The end result is a kitchen that today feels fully integrated in this villa in Sotogrande: respectful of its Andalusian character, with great finishes and resolved with the level of detail of a truly custom design.
The result: A complete kitchen transformation that respects the architecture of the home while enhancing the comfort, functionality and quality of the whole. Timeless, elegant and deeply connected to its surroundings, this kitchen seems to have always been part of the house.
